Where dose pigment come from? What makes one red pigment different from another? What are the basic raw materials that go into the following colors? Vermillion Red, Viridian Green, Carmine Red, Ivory Blue, Raw Sienna, Ultramarine Blue, Speia Brown, Zinc White Yellow, Cobalt Blue and 5 more (give me 5 more please :]
mostly chemicals these days but High Quality paints would be made of different natural minerals such as crushed lapis lazuli for Ultramarine Blue, zinc (or lead) for white, cinnabar for vermillion red, chromium oxide for viridian green and so on. Look each color up and you'll be sure to find the source of the pigment. Most of them are toxic.
